If you're not sure whether you're the best man...be sure to double check
My friend Steve abandoned his old blog a while back and has recently started fresh with a new blog. Steve's brother is also getting married this summer and I've been asking him [periodically] about how the wedding plans are coming along, specifically whether Steve is in the wedding party. Steve thought he was in the wedding party, but wasn't completely sure what the deal was. Last week, Steve was lamenting about having to attend the bridal shower because he couldn't just go and eat food. Today, he was wondering about the finer points of wedding gifts and asking me what this newfangled wedding registry thing was. After I did some investigative research on theknot, I discovered that Steve is his brother's best man. Fairly certain that Steve was clueless about his role, I was concerned whether Steve knew about his best man duties.
plasticann: You can buy them a gift off their registry. Are they registered anywhere?
Steve: I don't know...maybe you can do some research.
plasticann: What's your brother's name?
Steve: B*&^e
[a little while later]
plasticann: Are you in your brother's wedding party?
Steve: I think so. He asked me a few months ago.
plasticann: You might want to check their wedding website.
Steve: What happened? Am I no longer in the wedding party?
plasticann: Did you know you're his best man?
Steve: Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha!
plasticann: Are you aware of any expectations of best man duties?
Steve: Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha...Ha Ha Ha!
plasticann: Hmmm...I think I better send you some information from theknot.
